    Question for Illustrator.

Anyone know how / if I can change my settings to better represent black in document?

I have C0 M0 Y0 K100 and C100 M100 Y100 K100 in the same document and they look exactly the same while the document is open.

However, once I close the document and see the thumbnail, I can easily discern the C0 M0 Y0 K100 from the C100 M100 Y100 K100, as one appears black and the other grey.

is there any way to change my settings to better display this difference?

    Yes there is.

Illustrator > Preferences > Appearance of Black
    Select "Display all Blacks Accurately"

    • No problem!Nairn
    • thx!imbecile
    • I always set it to display "accurately". Otherwise one can't QC if you need to dial in a rich black build for specific output vendors.evilpeacock
    • that's exactly what made me notice the problemimbecile
