Just rebuilt my Solex 4a1 carburetor (European version of US Quadrajet). I'l be putting it in my Mercedes (that's currently running Weber 38) in next few days:

    • well, I know who I'M gonna call_niko
    • if u got carb questions - i'm here - cause much of the internet is littered with half-truths.pr2
    • wish i had these skills to fix my mazdajaylarson
    • it doesn't take much skills but it takes some reading to understand what the hell each part is really responsible for (manuals NOT internet forums).pr2
    • That looks beautiful. But what's wrong with the Webers? I used to have them in my Alfa.Longcopylover
    • Solex has 4 barrels - it idles and uses the small ones until around 3500rpm then the large secondaries kick in. = more precise fuel control.pr2
    • Plus it has vacuum modulator (that large vacuum can at an angle) so it increases/decreases idle based on engine needs.pr2
    • nice. satisfying workGnash
