Maschine Software is Trash
Working on a chill little hip-hop beat the other day with some old recorded MIDI...
Didn't save yet, obviously no auto-save. Project lost.
It's recorded MIDI and I remember the kit I began working from, so no absolute loss yet.
I begin again, but even getting the MIDI in then sorting it out to sketch again is tedious and taking too long. I get some going and the Jam will simply not sketch ideas without several button interactions. Even the UI won't let me edit / rearrange clips with any ease. I have to turn off sound preview before I can reorganize my instruments / sounds? So many clicks!
Performance record legato performances between clips? Not a chance... with Maschine.
Totally frustrated, I unplug the Jam, close Maschine, launch Ableton and plug in the APCmini.
Ableton welcomes the task.
Drag the MIDI to an instrument.
Click fold to quickly sort the note locations.
Click fold again to see the entire keyboard.
Move necessary notes.
Begin making clips.
Press record.
Begin performing clips.
Enjoy playback.I had recorded a "performance" within Ableton after recreating what I was working on in Maschine before the Jam had fully powered down.
The sounds are great NI. Maschine is garbage.

- My friend is sending me Maschine 1 because I mentioned I was going to buy that $100 akai finger drum pad. I was looking for a simple grilled cheese...canoe
- ..but it looks like I will get a triple decker club sandwich... should I be worried... I just want to program drums with my hands rather than with the mouse.canoe
- Advise please...canoe
- He gave it to me for free, but I bought him $100 worth of records, the same cost as what I would have paid for the Akaicanoe
- that works as a MIDI controller for any DAW, you can definitely use the kits inside Maschine to record yourself finger drumming beats and melodies.imbecile

- I know it's capable... just wondering if it's going to be stupidly difficult to deal with.canoe
- Depends, if you're not already used to a different DAW, you might take to Maschine's interface. I'm so used to Ableton, Maschine is too different a workflow.imbecile
- If maschine is your first software then you might like it especially if youve just come from the small screens of MPCsmicrokorg
