Going back to school. This time for Industrial Design.

Just got the acceptance letter. Scared to death to be honest. Mid 30's, need to work almost full time to pay bills and the school I am going to is pretty competitive as is my nature. Will struggle big time to balance work and school. Average projects don't cut it here. Will apply for a student grant that would mean half of the tuition would be covered.

As scared as I am, this is a goal I have and I feel I need to do it.

    kthxbye.

    • Boy... That school is expensive.
At least you will be at the new building instead of the warehouse.
      pango
    • Not as expensive as SFU, UBC, and the other ones. EC is better and cheaper than all the other design schools around.VectorMasked
    • They're all expensive!pango
    • lol cmon Pango. 1) Need some support here. 2) Aside from some Community College what else is cheap? Even those for-profit colleges like Everest or CDI College...VectorMasked
    • charge like 12-20 thousand for a 1-year diploma. A real Uni like Emily Carr, SFU, Capilano would charge 3-5 per semester. It's not like this is the US.VectorMasked
    • congrats! That is a dream of mine.Hayoth
    • congrats man. you are taking a path i've contemplated for years.lvl_13
    • Ya sry. I'm just jaded lol. I'm sure I can find a reason to hate anything in vancouver.pango
    • How's the career prospects for industrial design? I've been thinking about side stepping and studying something.shapesalad
    • I don't know you, but I'm proud of you. Keep doing big things. Life isn't easy and you're tackling that shit head on. Congrats.Gucci
    • Thanks guise! Keep the support coming this way.VectorMasked
    • @shapesalad ID is looking good based on research and what I have been told from career counsellors. Graphic Design is going a little downhill and a big thing isVectorMasked
    • that Graphic Design is a young man's game. When you hit 40 there's less jobs. The industry is filled with 20/30-year-olds. ID is a career you can do until youVectorMasked
    • retire. Plus... ID is not just physical products/objetcs. You have to have a good understanding of graphic design, interface design and user experience.VectorMasked
    • I feel it makes you more versatile. And with my background in Graphic and UI Design, and a degree in ID I could try to pursue whatever path I choose.VectorMasked
