The last redesign into Berliner format was more interesting aesthetically and functionally. But this is also nice.
That BBC interview they mention is well worth a listen. She knows her shit. The Guardian has had so much backlash post Corbyn's rise because they haven't overtly backed him. Corbynistas seem to love a conspiracy more than most. Her explanation summed it up though, the paper has always backed ideas not individuals and parties.
The website isn't radically different though, more like a reskin than a redesign.
- the content is maddeningly inconsistent. There's so much good stuff that gets buried under a shitpile of Owen Jones and Polly Toynby op-eds.Fax_Benson
- I think it's quite a bold redesign thoughFax_Benson
- I think the Owen Jones and other not so great stuff the Guardian does is shared/boosted more than anything else on Fbook. The actual paper isn't half as badfadein11
- as the shared Facebook version of it.fadein11
- Apart from the time they ran op-eds backing rival candidates in the Labour leadership election and ran pieces which put Corbyn in a less favourable light.face_melter
- Or that instance they pinned their flag to the Lib Dems for the General Election and were made to look like absolute arses.face_melter
- hmmm. they didn't back rival candidates in the election at all. that's the problem with what Corbynistas tell you. Corbyn didn't want to be leader either sofadein11
- p'haps they were just stating the truth.fadein11
- Anyway off topic (my fault). The web design really isn't that different to the previous aside from fonts colours etc.fadein11
- @face_melter I certainly wasn't saying they are perfect. Far from it. All those issues did occur before she took over and they were losing money hand over fist.fadein11
- my point was just that they are not the evil conspiracy against Corbyn his followers will try to make you believe.fadein11
