Okay, I forgot how Windows works...
Riso Rinc 3 installed and Drivers installed.

Now I have to try another cable or try to connect it via CUPS.

    I'm so fucking close.

In the meantime with all the boots and stuff in between I dissembled a iMac G4 and replaced the hard-drive...to no success, guess the problem is the logic board.

    But that was fun!

    • maybe it's the usb to parallel that messes it up...usb (serial port) is COM1, COM2,
parallel is LPT1. maybe you can tell the driver to use COM instead of LPT ?
      uan
    • just an idea... if you have all drivers and shit installed, but it doesn't see the printer, maybe it's looking at the wrong portuan
    • hey uan! thanks for your input. i downloaded a couple fo usb-to-parallel drivers for win xp before reading this cause that's also one of my guesses
      ********
    • i added two printers, one via USB and the other LPT. one gave me a there's not enough paper message but that's not true!

    • someone suggested me to get a WIN XP laptop but I'm still refusing! that's my last resort!

    • my friend's Riso's (she has 3) all have firewire ports...fuck me!

    • Look into an external RIP, perhaps -- I assume you're using the embedded controllerGnash
    • what do you mean by embedded controller? The Software it seems works with Riso files?
      ********
    • Any RIP suggestion?

    • Riso has external RIPs (controllers) that may be able to bridge the gap for you. Might find some on ebayGnash

    • Maybe these guys have a solution: http://www.efi.comGnash
    • thanks Gnash!

    • fuck those prices...LOL! For that money I can buy a Riso with Firewire that will probably work...hm...checking EFI. ;)

    • I know, right? these old RIPs should be way cheaper if not freeGnash
    • I'm stuck. I even checked and changed the Info.list for the P2303 usb-to-parallel driver. The machine seems to need a special network card to work with mac.
      ********
    • I found one for 400€. To work via Ethernet. Somewhere I finally read that connected like this if here's no driver for the printer one can forget it.

    • MAcs simply not work with Parallel. And VirtualBox or other VM can not change that the connection is actually with a Mac. Weird cause it's a software prob.
