May is desperate, but she knows she must know she needs to keep the DUP at distance (hence the payout) - seriously if the DUP are included in talks directly with EU. I really don't see how the Irish nationalist side of NI could treat that as anything other than the British govt voiding the Good Friday agreement.
A political party with views more toxic than the BNP is overseeing the process of nationalistic withdrawal from an economic union with no impact assessment!
This can't go on. Apparently May has been given a week. I really hope for all our sakes Juncker doesn't budge.
- It's chaos. Utterly unacceptable. We should ask for the £2bn DUP bung back, pause Brexit and hold a GE in Feb.monoboy
- hah well it's gonna be £2bn of monopoly money if they keep this up.kingsteven
- what happens if May goes? Labour don't have a brexit plan. Nobody does. A GE will lead to a proper hung parliament. There's no way out of this.Fax_Benson
- Yep what does happen? Labour have no appetite for dealing with this mess. Under Labour it will either mean a Brexit deal not v.different to being in the EUfadein11
- I really don't know but in the event of GE... If Labour made a second referendum a policy pledge? Would Corbyn get behind that?kingsteven
- minus ALL the benefits or a 2nd referendum and or reversal of Brexit. One thing is for sure the vote would go v.differently now.fadein11
- He would certainly have old new labour on his side for a change.kingsteven
- I would think so... and it's looking to be a cold one this winterkingsteven
- Hung parliament is unlikely though unless Labour throw the election. I will be close but Labour would get a majority now (and no I am not a big Corbyn fan)fadein11
- Corbyn is full of idealism and is expert at framing the issues, it's his solutions I worry about. Totally unrealistic.monoboy
- labour are no better than the tories on brexit. one minute they're opposing it, the next they're for it... total shambleshans_glib
- @mono - I agree, he'a also another example of populism. I hold little faith in him unfort.fadein11
- Bribing students and commuters won't take him any further than last time. unless he magics a brexit solution out of thin air I can't see him getting close to .Fax_Benson
- a majority. I think the vote would be split more thinly (slight gains for lib dem / ukip due to brexit)Fax_Benson
- yeah possibly, just how far he came last time I can see even more gains but a majority may still be out of reach. A combination of Corbyn + Brexitfadein11
- could be a nightmare scenario when even more of our financial sector GDP fucks off elsewhere.fadein11
