Check out the Design Exchange if open, and if what they're showing interests you at all.

Summers in Toronto are just festival after festival, so no doubt you'll be able to see some good music and get some street food in.

There's an up and coming craft beer scene in Toronto - places like Bellwoods Brewery and Birreria Volo are highlights. There's also a ton of great places to eat, and if you're up for venturing just a little out of the city (still on transit) you can get great Chinese, Hakka, Sri Lankan, etc. Stay away from places claiming Southern BBQ or Tacos, they are all overpriced and not very good.

The best area to stay is really depends on what you like to do, but I'd look for something in the downtown core, the annex, cabbagetown or maybe even west queen west if you're only in town for a few days and want easy access to see some stuff.

Depending on when you're in town, I might be able to swing you tickets to a sporting event if that's your thing as the agency I'm at does a lot of work for MLSE. Feel free to hit me up through the profile.
