Sorry guys i have to vent.

So I found out today, matter-of-factly from my boss that the dude we've been having issues with these past few months had one of the app developers re-design the redesigned app home screen... and show it to Amazon during a crazy big meeting.

So my (our) design skews to a very nice Material Design Cards style layout. A few months ago this guy tells me the cards I designed were far too tall and I should shrink them because our customers have 15-20 products (actually, research shows 3.5 products is average but whatever). So I shrink the cards so we could fit 5 of them on the screen at a time. Not happy but I pick and choose my battles.

So last week dickwad for some reason jumped off his material design kick and now thinks the cards are too thin. Rather than discuss it, he has his app dev 'design' it. Then, during a meeting with Amazon talking about Alexa integration this dude shows our design vs his and asks a room of suits which they prefer.

No clue which one they preferred but what the flying fuck!? The way he near daily, gradually and insidiously undermines months of approved design work is incomprehensible. I'm so disgusted right now. This dude is killing me.

    • i know a guy with a pension for hammers in your areaimbecile
    • lolkona
    • Same guy just told my PM when asked "What do you think kona's role is as a Dir of XYZ?" to which he responded... "well, no one is really UX...kona
    • ... and it's hard to determine if someone knows ux during an interview. If I had to say who I think a ux person is, I'd say Steve Jobs...kona
    • ... so I'd say kona should just say what a screen should be and the app developers and engineers should design it."kona
    • I'm hitting the bottle tonight.kona
    • the fucking nerve
      ********
    • He wants to be a standout and marginalize you, let him have all the glory/blame. Take Friday off, focus on your life, you'll feel much better.robotron3k
    • what the fuck - this cunt needs to understand whats expected of himSlashPeckham
    • so: either you question his shit in a big meeting, or you just happen to run him over when he crosses a street or just go lookin for a new better job? when...ArchitectofFate
    • there's scum in the middle, the top who approved the scum is worse. But then again kona-beer is nice and a legit alternativeArchitectofFate
    • Write up some process documentation and deal with him. These guys will leave you alone forever if you do this.SlashPeckham
    • lol. love the comments guys. thank you!kona
    • does he actually think he's improving things? or is this political?..sounds political to me. Like he's looking to increase his profile by making you look bad.exador1
    • Geez... what in the world was the PM getting at with those comments?mg33
    • ex, i believe it's a mixture of both, but yes, I'd say a bit more political. for months he was m.i.a., then, when he realized he project passed himkona
    • by he became hyper critical of the design. even though he was technically present during every review. I say technically because he'd justkona
    • sit there during a major review with his head in his phone paying little to no attention. mg, the PM is having similar problems.kona
    • the PM will do her duties and he'll tell the dev team to change scope or a feature without her knowledge. the guy is a maniac.kona
