Have you done design work [logos, layouts] for friends for FREE?
How do you handle it when someone you kind of know socially just emails you asking for some logo help for a small project and doesn't mention paying you at all and you don't know what to ask for in trade?
- point them to http://www.horriblel…uan
- I learned it's better to do it for free, so they can't command. when they have small budget it's a pain to work for 'cause they feel entitled to push around.uan
- and normally they are the worst clients...take all the pleasure away from the design work. If you feel inspired do it well done and for free.uan

- big fat fucking NO said in the kindest of ways... as uan mentioned... they're WORST clients to have and they will eat your time alivePonyBoy
- Uan makes a good point, to be fair********
- I usually say no to free work now even to vote friends, however just a few weeks ago I did a logo for a good friend for free, who then showed it to his company********
- Who have not only offered to pay me handsomely for the free work but have hired me to do a load of other stuff too. So that worked out rather well. For once********
- I offer advice for free. If they look like they have money, then negotiate someone reasonable. No free design. Beers for life isn't a bad trade!formed
- that's awesome, set :)monospaced
- Yea :)
Definitely the exception rather than the rule unfortunately******** - I have, but never again, unless it's some charity shit.section_014
