if i was a well-known and respected designer in LA and received an email from you asking for some advice, or help, or mentoring.. i don't see any reason why i would say no.......
my advice: jerks suck, but if you keep talking to people, and keep positive, you are bound to meet some people who can tell you the words you need to hear..
