    @IRNlun6

    Fake news was supposed to refer to completely made up news, like National Inquirer type stories, which clickbait sites were publishing during the election simply to make money. Mostly aimed at Trump supporters by the way since this was apparently by far the easiest demographic to convert.

    EPA officials saying they were ordered to take down a page on climate change, which was reported by Scientific American, is not fake news. Even if the government backtracked or there was disagreement about what the motive was, it's not the media making things up out of thin air.

    Of course the backdrop to all of this is that you have a politician who says climate change was invented by the Chinese appointing a corporate puppet of the oil industry who wants to dismantle the EPA to run the EPA. Is it surprising scientists would be concerned with that going on?

    What is really hard to understand is people saying the media lies and Trump tells the truth. How you can watch the past year of news and walk away with that conclusion is just baffling.

    It's a classic authoritarian tactic to discredit the media and make people only believe the person in power. In fact Trump's white nationalists supporters were chanting lügenpresse at their party after Trump was sworn in.

    From the birth certificate thing years ago to claiming 3 million people voted illegally a few days ago, Trump lies again and again to his own supporters, he even started a fake university to screw over his own supporters.
