the 17 is overkill, because you will use it for everything, I bought one and I do not touch my top of the line 2.8 PC for anything other than games anymore.
The 17 inch is exactly as they claim, a desktop replacement system. I work on 300 meg billboard files and it is as fast as my PC, although I have double the ram in the pbook.
the 12 is nice, but at that point you might as well get the 12 inch g4 ibook, as they rate pretty much the same in all departmental testing i have seen, other than the dual head video.....
