I got laid off in early August, which was perfect as I was already planning a 3 month trip to South East Asia starting in October.
Then I get a call from a recruiter for a managing director position at a very successful agency in NYC.
A week ago I had an initial interview and told them my plans, and overall I was pretty flip during the conversation.
I'm flying out of SF in about a week and yesterday they called me back and asked me to do another interview.
It's a great position and they want to fill the role immediately, BUT, I haven't gotten an offer and now I wonder... if I'm offered the job, should I accept or go on my vacation????
Any advice appreciated.
- was your initial interview with the recruiter or the agency? It seems that the choice to go or stay is based on how likely an offer will be.Gnash
- sounds like you want it -- "great positions" don't come up that often and you may be able to negotiate an extended trip laterGnash
- The initial interview was with the recruiter, The next will be with upper mgmt. I do want it but I also want to take a sabbatical... def first world problem...robotron3k
- take the sabbatical. if you're the man for the job, they'll wait.hans_glib

- They can't do anything if you had those plans already. Either take your days off or have them compensate for the expenses you've made.Maaku
