i'd definitely lose the corner marks in 2.
unless they tie to the concept in some way. seeing that you have them on your personal site as well says you don't have a reason.
i like the simplicity of the first one - and i don't mind the fade in. has a nice flow. snapping could go.
the first one looks more romantic.
maybe mix the color up - just a little bit - not so purpley. maybe an ORANGE! or something. more silver?
also, font? not very vernacular here. why did you chose that one?
there is romance in serifs.
