    Upgraded my partner's Win 8 laptop to Win 10 last night.

    Wow.

    That was the least painful OS upgrade I have ever done and wholly and absolutely worth dumping Win 8 for - Win 10's actually more like Ye Olde Windowse, without all the bullshit Tiles and stuff, isn't it?

    I'm sticking with Win 7 on my machine here though.

    • There are a *lot* of things you should manually disable - like auto updates, various online connections, and privacy settings. Take the time to go through them.face_melter
    • But otherwise, aye, it's a solid OS and sits well enough back not to interfere with work or shit the bed at the first sign of trouble.face_melter
    • oh, we spent a good while going through all that shit - still, more to do - my partner's weirdly more paranoid than I am about that shit...detritus
