Great thread. I'd really like to know as well. I've been wanting to get into finding an agent or rep company myself. I know there are representation companies out there like Aarra.
Ponyboy, what do you do and how did you go about even getting an agent or referrer? How does all of that work? I'd say 50% for finding a new client sounds most excellent.
- I'm multi-disciplined (illustration, design, animation, web (design & dev)... some video... all stemming back from doing a ton of Flash for 10+ years)PonyBoy
- My referrers came from various places. At times they're former AE's from Agencies whom I built-up relationships with and I'm now a source they use...PonyBoy
- ... in their own world of freelance or at their current Agencies. I also used to do a ton of Real Estate work. I have a whole group of referrers that all...PonyBoy
- ... came from a huge Condo developer that fell apart... All sales folks that just kept in touch and keep pushing me work in R.E.PonyBoy
- So... basically my network is 15+ years of word-of-mouth via Design / Web Agencies and Real Estate Firms... I don't have a specific 'Agent' if-you-will.PonyBoy
