Saw an amazing condo last night. 1280 sqft, a fucking breakfast nook, two full bathrooms, solid 1980s construction, corner unit, no bullshit amenities, and the best part: we can afford it.
The only problem is that in 3-5 years it will be surrounded on three sides by buildings three times as tall, so almost no direct sunlight...
Do we go for it?
- Do it! you can always rent out your apartment, get another mortgage, buy another apartment.pango
- first question: where?
second question: will it retain value after buildings are on 3 sides of you?lvl_13 - also, the shitstorm and noise that is buildings going up on 3 sides around you ... for yearsmonospaced
- Mortgage it when the value is still good.pango
- One of the buildings is already done, the others are still a few years from starting.i_monk
- go for it. any condo you get downtown will likely be surrounded anyway.Gnash
- what are the maintenance fees?_niko
- Over 800, but proportionate considering the square footage. Our agent says .70-.75/sqft is typical and this is about .65.i_monk
- I don't know about condos... but in houses anyway, the 80's in Canada were not considered a good decade for construction.ETM
- How much and where? Must be pricey w/ 800 in fees.formed
