Spent a few hours building a shiny new PC. I'm done with my iMac, doing any kind of heavy work is an exercise in frustration. C4D and PS etc. are exactly the same in Windows as OSX so i'm not losing anything whatsoever.
Decided to grasp the candle and buy all the bits today after some in-depth research and comparisons - last time I even smelled the inside of a Windows PC was 15+ years ago aaaand... holy shit, everything is compartmentalised! No guess work at all - manuals make sense, illustrations look like the parts they describe, SATA cables are tiny! Plugs have labels! Labels!
So, I (carefully) threw it all together, hooked it up to an old monitor/keyboard/mouse and tentatively pushed the power button for the first time... atomic batteries to power... turbines to speed... strange numbers and letters flashes across the tiny LEDs on the motherboard... IT LIVES! I was expecting all kinds of nonsensical error messages and technical tomfuckery. But no - smooth as a porn star's fanny. Now the bios setup has graphics? What kind of fucking sorcery is that? Frankly, my whole world has been turned upside-down.
Tomorrow is new monitor and keyboard time and installing an OS - W7 or W10, not sure. I use 7 Pro at work and is rock solid, so I'll go for that for now. So long iMac, you stuttering can of shit.
- nice! if you start to miss osx you can always dual boot that bad boyscarabin
- Windows 10 is pretty nice compared to 7. I say go for it and just disable any of its snooping shit if you actually do business on it.monospaced
