it was my first burn. it lasted roughly 10 days, including travel, and costed a serious amount of money and time spent preparing for it.
but it was all worth it, just for that unique sensation of absolute freedom combined with a radical sense of inclusion into everything that was going on everywhere I would go.
it was like a giant circus and i was a part of it. the people were the top elite in the world in terms of having a really good, balanced head on their shoulders. each very unique, creative, conscious, and friendly. the camps were all super fun and inviting. a limitless DIY creative energy backed up with an unprecedented attitude that anything can be built, there are no limitations. it's overwhelmingly WOW!!
by day two, I felt like I was literally living in a dream, among the best dreams I've ever had. i kept referring to it as heaven of sort - with fire and dust storms.
if I happened to be on my own during the day, I would essentially bike around from friend to friend's camp and hang out with them (including scarabin who is ultra cool btw). black rock city is so big i couldn't even see all my friends or even see half of it. getting from one camp to another, well let's just say there are many distractions! I ended up partying at many different camps meeting new people - there really is nothing quite like it. if I weren't doing this, I was riding my bike around the playa and viewing art, or helping out around my camp, or going out with friends to parties and burns, or taking care of myself (cleaning, eating, changing, hydrating, indulging in whip-its).
it was epic beyond belief. some highlights were: 1)having a martini w/ friends on the trash fence in the deep playa at a makeshift french martini bar at like 4am. 2)a big art car stopping, handing me a microphone, and making me do karaoke for everyone to hall & oates maneater. 3) dancing in dust storms (as well as hilariouslyl drinking, eating, and breathing dust like it doesn't exist) 4)the millions of spankings i recieved from everyone 5)all of the new friends i met and partied with 6) the magic that occurred each moment i was there- including the last night when an amazing girl came into my life and we spent an entire night together and we both think we are in love, we've been talking since.
in conclusion, it's definitely not for everybody, but it is definitely for me. it's really hard to explain so don't worry about it, besides.. Bugs!!!
