    SPOILER ALERT

The last episode was kind of meh, that delete key gimmick would never have been an issue in any kind of semblance of reality. Seriously, hit the delete key and it locks their servers??? how is the delete key deleting files on a remote server while overloading both servers!!?!

I was enjoying the geekiness of the show because so far it felt pretty authentic.

I'm glad Halt and Catch Fire is still holding up!

    • Agree. Plus what company doesn't have backups?ETM
    • They were FTPing the data so depending on the FTP client being used, they could delete the files on the server if they had permission and no delete confirmationSteveJobs
    • I was pretty shocked they took that leap as well, but without extensive use of all the FTP clients and respective settings I was able to suspend my disbelief.SteveJobs
    • And ETM, you'd be surprised.SteveJobs
    • I know it's somewhat possible with a long series of incredibly stupid mistakes... but a laptop on the kitchen table can lock everyone out? it's inconsistentzarkonite
    • with the rest of the story and the characters in general...zarkonite
    • The whole idea of a standard FTP transfer at that level for 20 TB of data are just stupid, regardless.ETM
    • And much of the deleted data would be recoverable since it wouldn't have been overwritten on media yet.ETM
    • And some recoverable with caching via the inevitable CDN's they'd be using.ETM
    • etc. :)ETM
    • if they were so concerned with having their pants down over a data transfer why was a 20TB HD with test data not couriered over instead?prophetone
    • Or 20, 1 TB drives!ETM
    • Exactly.prophetone
    • its like we have our own silicon valley in heredrgs
