actually he is doing you a favor, you can pick any font you want and tell it's a "very elegant font , very exquisite font".
I think this font here (your choice) is even more elegant and exquisite than verdana...blabla.
an argument for verdana is that it is a very legible font with clear character distinction, that's mainly the reason it's used by ikea.
