    xerox all your ID's, cards and such, send copies to a trusted friend, keep copies yourself, in case your wallet is stolen/missing, you can quickly cancel your cards and get a new set of ID's faster....

    I've never had stuff stolen, travelled a LOT over the years, often very roughly on busses and trains in Asia....Moldero's right, the right attitude seems to help prevent bad situations when travelling....

    I did have a friend who had her identity stolen as somebody opened her backpack and stole her purse inside when she was on her way to work in Chicago...
