I'm sure this is a problem in America also, but one thing I've noticed lately is that police tend to not be the healthiest people.
Years ago to be in the police force you had to be X height and Y weight etc. Nowadays thats all gone out the window and it seems anyone can join.
The problem is, low fitness police unable to deal with the situation correctly would rely on other means, be that gun, stun-gun, baton etc where as an old fashion cops would just jump you and hold you down.
