Btw, if you do have Java installed and want to keep it then put the security level to high (in system pref) and then I think it will alert you and ask for permission before use on any sites you've not already allowed.
And finally, DEFINITELY get yourself a copy of Little Snitch.

Its around £30 and its a must have. It shows all connections in and out of your computer over the internet. Props you when Software and connections are requesting access to your computer or to the internet and allow you to block anything that seems dodgy. Basically management for anything you could possibly be worried about.
