I've given myself restrictions for the most part to control what I'm buying. I'm trying to buy stuff that I definitely know I will listen to many times, and avoid spur-of-the moment purchases of stuff that's trendy. A good example is this new band Future Islands. Some great songs, but I don't think I'll want to listen to that for very long.
I'm also going to try and build full collections of albums by my favorite bands, The Cure being number one so that's going to be a bit of a challenge. I've already gasped at what I'd have to pay for a few albums that are hard to find and don't have reissues.
The stuff I really like listening to is instrumental stuff like Mogwai, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Sigur Ros, etc. I found a Sigur Ros box set with the first three albums at a store here for $165 in Very Good condition. Buying those three albums separate would cost more than that, so I might pull the trigger on it.
