For the love of baby jebus please let me MERGE directories from Finder.
- like cut/paste files?monospaced
- Just merging directories and only overwriting the files that are named the same. OSX will replace the entire contents of subdirectories when you copy over themhereswhatidid
- sub directories when you copy over them. So Folder A completely replaces Folder B, rather than just the overlapping files they contain.hereswhatidid
- files they contain. This is standard stuff on the Windows side.hereswhatidid
- they already merge in recent versions.ESKEMA
- if you copy the contents of one folder into another, and there are duplicates, you have the choice to overwrite or notmonospaced
- merging is there, you just have to do it slightly differentlymonospaced

- If the folders contain different versions of identically named files, the only options are Stop or Replace.hereswhatidid
- This is the part that wipes the entire directory you're merging rather than combining it's contents.hereswhatidid
- well, that's what a merge is, it either replaces or doesn't replace the duplicatesmonospaced
- you wouldn't lose any documents that were differentmonospaced
- No, a merge is combining things. It's not deleting the non-overlapping files.hereswhatidid
- Yes, you do currently in mavericks. Try making two folders with a few files that have the same name. Then try to merge themhereswhatidid
- merge them. Make sure they have a different amount of files within them so you can compare before and after.hereswhatidid
- I did, the result is a folder with a combination of both folders, and all the duplicates are overwritten (by choice).monospaced
- perfect merge and combination of contentsmonospaced
- maybe I don't understand exactly how you're using it wrong, but I assure you that merging is there and workingmonospaced
