Get on Odesk or Elance, the money sucks compared to normal salaries, but not when you're in India. Only trick is to find a good connection so as to be reliable. And you can really choose fun work and get plenty of it if done properly.
Or, right from the start, get a scuba instructor or English teacher's course under your belt. Those jobs can take you to amazing places!
This is of course to keep your travels going longer. You'll need to save a pile first by giving up a few luxuries...(eating out, taxis etc.) and even more so once you've set off. (though eating out in a lot of countries costs the same as cooking)
...oh and don't try the burning man thing... that'll eat about 2 months of travel in India, funding wise.
ps replace India with Bolivia, Peru, Thailand, Indo, Africa etc as applicable.
