Then again, here if we do not sign up to our national 'medicare' scheme (which allows us emergency hospital free etc) you are charged 1.5% extra on your income come tax time.
A little secret - (my brother is top doctor in intensive care) in Australia - if you get run over on the weekend and you also have private health insurance, go to a public hospital - the amount of extra staff on a weekend is two fold - interns etc. Fact.
