If I had the money, I would totally store everything I have on SSD. It's the winner in terms of reliability and speed. But, they are over 10x as expensive as hard drives, per GB.
I think cloud is awfully expensive for most uses. (Why do you think everybody is getting into the business?) You can easily spend what an equivalent hard drive costs every month on cloud storage and access fees.
And now that you can pretty much expense whatever you spend on computers, there aren't many tax advantages to cloud.
