there really is no "Democrat" or "Republican" anymore... it's about getting your "gang" in power and handing out the favors.
I'm really uncomfortable with the "people are too stupid" meme. most people are working hard to survive/etc,,,to realize what's going on...and everyday the techniques of persuasion get more complex/convoluted daily. Most people don't engage in a daily, comprehensive assessment of the visual/media ecology they are "consuming". I don't think that makes them "stupid". I just think that's a really elitist thing to say.
