Well since our g4 towers are the new one I'm not sure I can really help. But I asked my friend since he has your tower.
He said there was something to do with removing the screws that hold the HD to the case and then also about unscrewing some screws that hold a heat plate to the HD.
When it comes to using the old hard drive as the main one, just make sure the jumpers are set to master. The diagram for the HD jumpers should be printed right on the HD top.
