Another suggestion (dude, said the same thing years ago!)
1. SDD as your main drive, for speed.
"CFD" cranks out some very, very fast ones for cheap.

From my experience intels are more reliable, albeit slightly more pricey and not as fast.2. Then replace that ancient optical drive with an extra hdd bay for storage. Like optibay:
Put a regular 1tb drive in there. There's good ones around for 60-70$.
