mate I know what you are going through - working with politics like that is never fun - but it's your job as an interactive designer to make them understand the complexities of web design and standards compliance....
Just throwing something up like you ahve done, even though it looks and works great on IE6, PC, has probably done more harm than good - especially to those trying to view it on a mac - because they've not been given the full experience - and they have either gone away frustrated, or pissed off.
Neither of those is the impression your company wants to give out I am sure.
It is therefore part of your job to communicate this, and if it's not getting through, then maybe they're not the people you should be working for.
