I don't notice that and don't even know of companies that use an online freelance site (maybe really small local companies). Perhaps you're bidding on the wrong projects or looking in the wrong places. Maybe look into doing work for ad agencies / marketing companies. They have a ton of work and it's probably a lot easier to get (and deal with).
Like others have said, your website and work showcase is really small and probably shouldn't be in Flash (maybe it's out of date?). Maybe look into redoing that and putting your best foot forward. If I were a client, that'd be the first place I'd be looking if I was considering your services. At first glance, I'd think you were a solo illustrator -- not someone who builds sites, print, identities, etc. Feels a bit misleading. Anywho, best of luck.
