This is really fucking bad for them, previously they've lost a lot of money on Xbox as a plan to take over the living room. Xbone was the next step but clearly intended to be the step where it starts actually making money.
Although the company has a lot of money coming in from Office, they don't just throw money away on projects without it being for a future investment.
