it's more similar to other scripting languages [namely java and c++], one will be able to make a more easy transition between one platform to another.
Separation of content and design should essential for a project's flexibility, making your life easier either if you're a designer, a developer or both. OOP [object oriented programming] should always be taken in consideration when developing in MX's actionscript or it 2.0 version [altough this last one is much more powerful].
Unfortunately, incompatibilities make the transition a pain.
Don't stress. Wait until this come out and then start the more complex stuff...
