    like fiver said, you got to be here.

    scope out a one-month rental on airbnb or vrbo, and then peep out craigslist every day for rental listings.

    make sure you have all your paperwork in order and printed out ready to hand over to potential landlords. paperwork like your CA rental application, your rental history/landlords numbers, bank statements, and credit scores.

    rent is insane here, so make sure have at least 6 months in savings. You will be lucky to get a 1 bedroom for probably not less than $2000, and potentially much more depending on the hood you are looking at.
