of the bigger cities - i liked bangalore, just for the walking around.
but we were backpacking; jump on a train, jump off in a village, stay a few days, step, repeat all the way to Mumbai (which, we arrived to in a flood). i dont know/remember the names of the little towns (it's been 12 yrs), but there's always a place to stay and food to eat and people are always keen on talking and asking you if you have some tin.
i dont think i'd travel that way with a wife though.
