LoL.. that's another reason to NOT move to Haringey. I was made redundant last year, was completely out of work for a few months, and tried signing on. This was March - July 2002.
I'm still waiting for my fucking housing benefit to come through. I got £42 or something basic benefits, but the incompetant fucks that they are (I'm still bitter, you may notice) only managed to pay me a week and a half's housing benefit. As a consquence, I'm refusing to pay my council tax, and am probably going to get shafted very, very soon.
Anyway. If you succeed, you can expect the £42 a week minimum, and a large chunk of your rent, based on a number of factors. For instance, they may send someone around to appraise your property vs the amount of rent you hock up.
You'll not have any problems if you're of foreign origin. Not prejudice, just an observation.
