I enjoyed it (saw it a 24fps) - visually it was stunning. The only issue I have is similar to my thoughts on LOTR.

If those huge fucking birds can swoop in a carry them to their destinations, why all the fucking walking? Have the bird drop you off where you're going. I would have been pissed when those birds dropped me on top of a far away mountain top and not take me the extra 30min flight over to the destination.

I mean, in LOTR, they swooped in at the end and picked them up DIRECTLY on top of Mt. Doom.

Oh well, would have been a short, drama-free movie otherwise.

    • heh, i do this with every kind of movie - Looper: "why not just send them back in time to when the Earth was...detritus
    • ...6 months around the sun, just dumping them in Space?".detritus
    • Looper q: when they began to maul that poor guy, why didn't all his life change? How did he end up in the same street?shaft
    • I'm not talking about this time travel shit.. otherwise we'll be here all day making diagrams with straws and shit! :)detritus
    • Maybe the birds are treating Smaug with the deference and caution he deservesBrokenHD
    • lol, BrokenHD. Thank you for thatidentity
    • Maybe the eagles are just assholes like cats. And they rarely do what you want.ETM
    • For LotR, maybe they wouldn't go anywhere near Mordor until the ring was gone along with Sauron's power.ETM
