"Republicans aren't against helping our true needy and helpless citizens without waver. But we also know that a system that enables a larger growing group of dependents that are not truly needy nor helpless is a disaster waiting to happen and will infringe on the true group of needy and helpless... so who are the bastards now? The ones that want to protect the moneys for the truly less fortunate or the low scum that apply for benefits taking from the truly sick and needy?"
The thing is that the right is willing to throw out the baby with the bath water. i don't hear about making the welfare system more fair or more efficient or less prone to fraud. i just hear "cut", "reduce" etc. They are under the mistaken impression that if you make it harder to get assistance, those who don't really need it will give up and get legit jobs. But defrauders of welfare aren't that easily swayed, because the type of person that is looking for a handout they don't deserve will never stop trying to game the system.
Meanwhile, it's made harder for those who need it
Make no mistake, the system needs to be fixed in order to better detect defrauders and get them off the rolls. But all this "moocher class" and "generation of takers" talk from the right does not instill the image of benevolent philanthropists looking out for the needy- Personally...
I's rather be in the
Corporate Welfare
cheese line.utopian - would you be on board to cuts by making it fair and efficient? Or still side with Obama's growing it without regulation?whhipp
- Explain how tax breaks for corporations aren't a form of entitlement, neocon.aaux
- More money goes to those tax breaks than all the social programs combined.aaux
- And I'll take the GOP seriously when even ONE suggests cutting military spending.aaux
- aaux, unsure if we actually need to make cuts to defense, rather minimize the waste. Sort of like all of government. Until someone proposes this before hiking anyones taxes I will be on board.whhipp

- on board with no tax increases. Its a joke how willing you want to give to others who are wasting our money. Get down from your soap box and put a foot down to all the waste. You can cry all you want about corporate taxes etc... even if the government had those taxes, we would still be in the same situation. Government needs to be cleaned up.whhipp
