I took a stroll through the old section of Ankara yesterday.

This is Turkey's largest Mosque called Kocatepe. It was completed in 1987 and can hold up to 24,000 worshippers. It is considered one of the largest mosques in the world.

The size was stunning, this is my first time ever entering a mosque.

Massive pillars all around. I am still not sure what that huge sphere in the middle is. It looks like a chandelier but it was not lit up.

Men of all ages sitting around listening, there were older woman around the mosque but I did not see them sitting on the carpet with the rest of the worshippers.

    • nice photos. the sphere is a chandelier but they turn on at night. the real mosques are in istanbul tho. let me know if you need any help in Turkey.Beeswax
