I've lived in apartments before. One time ended up not getting paid for a gig on time and had to chuck everything in storage and hold up in a budget for a few months. Was rough and bleak. You have no rights as tenants, you can be out the very day you don't have the money. Hotels are full of people who just had 5 or 6 big things go wrong for them, just a few unlikely deals of the cards and you're on your ass in this country, and it's twice as hard to get back up again. "Character building", and material for screenplays and movies, certainly.
