As Mr_Right mentioned the color shifts could be quite varied.

However, advancements in digital and offset printing have given some printers the ability to introduce an "expanded gamut" into a traditional 4-color process. Since an RGB color gamut is wider than traditional CMYK, some printers can get closer to the RGB values than previously possible.

I work with a printer in Detroit, MI that has this capability and have sent many jobs to them RGB. Most of the jobs have come out wonderful.

As with any print job, proof, proof again, and then proof some more!

    • how do they expand the gamut of CMYK without new colors?monospaced
    • More sophisticated RIP.tesmith
    • that means nothing... HOW do they expand CMYK without adding colors?monospaced
    • Problem is, it's 4 colors, so "expanding" them is impossible without adding to themmonospaced
    • Same 4 colors we've been using for over a century, still ink on paper, same limitationsmonospaced
    • The RIP converts RGB to CMYK better than Adobe?tesmith
