  I read that last week and, whilst I thought it somewhat interesting, couldn't help but notice the cherry-picked support (Arctic Monkeys were what now? Not in any way wholly representative of the era they found themselves in - I was there) and the fact it assiduously ignores the other 'decennial itches'.

  As best as I can tell, elements of every decade from the last century seems to be represented in culture right now.

  • er.. sorry - I was around when the Arctic Monkeys did their schtick (as were we all) and it wasn't representative of ne'tingdetritus
  • Maybe from the telescopic view of The New Yorker's Ivory tower it looked that way, perhaps.detritus
