Real computer programming knowledge (i.e. like a degree for going to school for Computer Science and learning hardcore math, physics algorithms, etc), not learn yourself while doing design-related work. You just need too much spare time to REALLY be good at it and understand it thoroughly (I'm talking Grant Skinner-Stewdio - Natzke - Brenden Dawes - Mr Doob type good, people coming from different technologies, knowing multiple languages, and mixing shit up to become real pioneers of the industry).

It would make it so much easier to understand different languages. I like doing animation and design related shit. But being able to do that and mixing different programming languages, different technologies, even different hardware (think Kinect)...that's what would be really exciting.

Maybe once Flash completely dies :), I'll be absolutely forced to have spare time to learn new stuff (I'm talking 8 - 10 hrs a day studying on one specific thing until I've mastered it). With a family, working for myself, a house, and all that stuff now, I only have a couple of hours late at night to dedicate to studying...which I'm using up just to learn HTML5/JavaScript.
