    ehm. that sucks. especially if someone voluntary subscribed. do you have an e-mail check or e-mail confirmation on that newsletter? i mean, can i fill in any e-mail address in? that's likely to be abused as well.

    i sort of got lucky. dunno if you heard about it but there's a sort of new way of spamming where they hijack your domain. so they send shitloads of spam where the from address is a random name @ your domain . tld. i got about 1200 bounced e-mails back in 2 days. spam mails i didn't send which couldn't be delivered (that's how i found out). the thing is they used a lot of open smtp servers (especially .edu's) where relaying is allowed. and that is a problem as well. smtp servers should be blocked from relaying to force the spammer to use it's own smtp server which makes them more traceable. anyways, if some people who have reported it i prolly would have been on the ban list as well. but my isp is pretty cool they wouldn't pull the plug coz they would do a background check (e.g. checking the logs on their smtp server for abuse).
