Hey monoblanco.
NEVER edit directly from your harddrive this is not the way to do it.
1. Find out what codec is used in the files from the camera.
2. Transcode them if need be to something else prores 422 will be fine.
3. Put ALL of your footage onto AN EXTERNAL DRIVE which is at least firewire 400 and spins at 7200rpm.Working from your hard drive is not going to work on large files and complex projects because you are asking the computer to run the programs and access the data etc. all at the same time from the one disc. Using an external disk means the data comes from this and the program runs from the hard drive. Faster. Better. Works.
