Sorry to hear that :(
I sympathize with you. The dog that I had growing up-this was in 1994-he was getting old, but wasn't totally bad off, and my Dad just took him without me knowing and had him put to sleep. Came home from work at a grocery store and there was a letter from my dad on my desk telling me he did that.
I'll never forget how sad I felt knowing that the dog I cared for the most, who was a friend in that sense that animals you care about can be, was put to sleep and I didn't even get to have a say in it, say goodbye to him, be there when it was over.I think about my cat now, who is only like two years old, how I'll have her (provided she's healthy and all) well into my mid/late 30s and I think alot about how sad that will be when she's gone. I got her when she was a kitten and I love thinking about when she was getting used to my apartment, and the first time she curled up on my lap and started purring and fell asleep-when we became friends.
I really love animals, so I'm sorry to hear that you're going through this. :)
